Where is the nearest grocery shop to the port

In most ports along the route the grocery shop is a few hundred metres from the quay, and in Sztynort, Wierzba and the AZS port in Wilkasy it is within the marina grounds. Mikołajki, Ryn, Węgorzewo and Giżycko have the most shops close to the water. Do your bigger shop before Śniardwy and Bełdany, because beyond them there are few shops near the ports.

The distances below are in a straight line from the marina. On foot it is usually further; in Giżycko, for example, you also have to cross the footbridge over the railway tracks by Ekomarina. Shop opening hours also come from maps and may differ in season, so ask at the harbour master's office before heading out in the evening.

Short answers to the other things crews come to the harbour master's office about, from showers to parking, are collected in our article on questions to ask the harbour master in Masuria.

Straight-line distances based on maps from November 2026. Shops within the port according to port websites or sailing websites.

Shopping at the start in Giżycko, Wilkasy and on Jezioro Boczne

Most yachts are picked up in and around Giżycko, so this is usually where you do your biggest shop. Ekomarina on Niegocin has no shop within the port. The nearest are two small shops, approx. 370 m from the marina, and further on a Biedronka and a Lidl. By Przystań Dalba, at the mouth of the Łuczański Canal, there is a Żabka approx. 65 m from the quay which, according to maps, is open every day from 6 am to 11 pm.

On Kisajno it is harder. Around Port Royal in Tracz bay, the map shows no grocery shop within approx. 900 m, so if you are picking up your yacht on that side of town, do your shopping in central Giżycko before you get to the port. Ask at the harbour master's office about shops near the neighbouring marinas.

In Wilkasy there is a general store at the AZS port. A stay of up to 3 hours costs 20 PLN there and is free with a receipt of at least 50 PLN from that shop (price list valid from 6 April 2026 to 4 April 2027). A few hundred metres from the port there is a Biedronka, a Lewiatan and a Delikatesy Centrum on ul. Olsztyńska. According to sailing websites, the PTTK port next door has its own shop, with a Lewiatan and a Biedronka approx. 220 m from the marina.

In Piękna Góra, next to Yacht Port, a fish farm runs a fish shop, and there is a grocery shop approx. 270 m from the port. On Jezioro Boczne you can shop in Bogaczewo, at a shop that according to maps is open Monday to Saturday from 6 am to 10 pm and on Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm, and in Rydzewo, which has two general stores on ul. Mazurska.

Mikołajki, Węgorzewo, Sztynort and Ryn: a shop right by the quay

In Mikołajki it is approx. 140 m from Wioska Żeglarska to the Żabka on ul. Kajki, approx. 205 m to the Lewiatan and approx. 390 m to the Delikatesy Centrum. From the MKŻ marina it is approx. 600 m to the shops. This is the last place with several shops right by the water before Śniardwy and Bełdany, so stock up here for two or three days.

In Węgorzewo it is approx. 410 m from Ekomarina to the Żabka, which according to maps is open every day from 6 am to 11 pm. The Delikatesy Centrum is approx. 510 m away and the Biedronka on ul. Zamkowa approx. 650 m. According to sailing websites, Port Keja and the ZHP port have a shop on site.

In Sztynort the grocery shop is within the port, by the Baba Pruska restaurant towards the Zęza tavern, and the port website gives its hours as 8 am to 10 pm. A stay of up to 3 hours is free there with a receipt for at least 200 PLN of purchases in the port; without a receipt it costs 100 PLN before 1 pm and 20 PLN after 1 pm (price list on the port website, as of autumn 2026).

In Ryn it is approx. 240 m from Ekomarina to the Żabka on plac Wolności, and a Lewiatan, a Dino and a Biedronka are all within approx. 460 m. There is an ATM approx. 40 m from the port. According to sailing websites, Marina Sośnica exchanges gas bottles, which comes in handy when the cooker runs out of gas midweek.

Where shops are scarce: Śniardwy and Bełdany

Past Mikołajki there are few shops near the water. On Śniardwy you are left with small village shops in Nowe Guty, approx. 150 m from Marina Śniardwy, and in Okartowo, a few hundred metres from the marina. In strong winds Śniardwy builds up a short, steep chop, and you cross it in the morning or not at all. So be prepared to spend a day waiting in port and have food for an extra day. We write more about this lake in our guide to Śniardwy.

On Bełdany there is a shop in the port in Wierzba. In Kamień there is none within approx. 900 m; the nearest is in Iznota. By the Guzianka lock, according to sailing websites, the waterside lodge has a shop approx. 50 m from the quay. In Ruciane-Nida it is approx. 750 m from Przystań Wodnik to a shop, and approx. 660 m from Marina PTTK to the Żabka. Stops along this route are described in our guide to Lake Bełdany.

At the end of the route, in Pisz, it is approx. 420 m from Ekomarina on the Roś to the Biedronka on ul. Olsztyńska. According to maps, the shop is open Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm and on Sunday from 9 am to 8 pm.

What to stock up on before you sail away from the shops

Before Śniardwy or Bełdany, make sure you have these things above all.

  • Bottled drinking water. The water from the tank on a charter yacht is usually not for drinking, and in hot weather you get through it faster than you expect.
  • Bread, breakfasts and dinners for two days, with enough spare for a day waiting in port.
  • Cash. Some ports take cards, but keep small change for a shower or toilet token. There are ATMs near the ports in Giżycko, Mikołajki and Ryn, and within the port in Sztynort.
  • Bin bags. You leave your rubbish in the port containers, some of which are for sorted waste, and nothing goes into the lake.

Exactly what to pack and how to cook on board is set out in our guide to provisioning a yacht. Short-stay fees at individual marinas can be found in our overview of port fees in Masuria.
