Where to refuel a yacht in Masuria

In the 2026 season there were five fuel stations on the water along the Great Masurian Lakes route, all run by Orlen, in Giżycko, Mikołajki, Sztynort, Węgorzewo and Ryn. They sell 95 petrol and diesel, usually every day in season but not around the clock. There are no stations on the water on Śniardwy, Bełdany or in Ruciane-Nida, so you refuel beforehand.

How yacht owners settle fuel and how much a houseboat burns in a week is covered in our article how much fuel a houseboat uses and where to refuel. Other questions from the jetty, from shops to showers, are collected in our article on questions to ask the harbour master in Masuria.

List and hours based on ORLEN information for the 2026 season. Check them again before the 2027 season.

You will not find 98 petrol at any of these stations. Only boats refuel here, so you cannot fill up a car. The hoses are longer than at roadside stations because yacht tanks are below deck. In summer 2026 a litre cost approx. 0.30 PLN more on the water than at ordinary stations. The stations in Giżycko and Ryn are Stop.Cafe outlets, so you can also buy coffee and snacks there, and in Giżycko you can pay in cash, by card or with the Orlen Pay app (according to a 2024 company announcement).

Mikołajki, Sztynort, Węgorzewo and Ryn up close

In Mikołajki the station is in the centre, by the promenade and Wioska Żeglarska. It is approx. 500 m from the MKŻ marina on ul. Kajki and approx. 200 m by water from the Enklawa port on the southern shore. This is the last fuel pump before Śniardwy and Bełdany, so refuel here before heading south.

In Sztynort the station is part of the port and, according to the port website, operates only in the summer season. In Węgorzewo the pump is not at Ekomarina but at the scouts' port on the Węgorapa, approx. 100 m from Ekomarina and from Port Keja according to sailing websites. The station in Ryn is the newest: it opened in August 2025 and serves the stretch between Mikołajki and Ryn. According to ORLEN, in the 2026 season it was open the same hours as the others, usually from 8 am to 8 pm.

Giżycko and the Łuczański Canal: which side you approach from

The Giżycko station is on Niegocin, at the entrance to the Łuczański Canal. It is approx. 600 m in a straight line from Ekomarina, approx. 200 m from Lowen Marina, and right next to Przystań Dalba. So from the ports on the Niegocin side it is close by.

It is harder from the marinas on Kisajno, such as Port Royal, Stranda, COS or Oczy Mazur. In the 2026 season the Łuczański Canal was closed to yachts because of the construction of the Giżycko bypass bridge. All vessels could only pass through it at the weekends of 1 to 3 May and 4 to 7 June. The detour to Niegocin led through the Piękna Góra Canal, Lake Tajty and the Niegociński Canal. Whether the canal will reopen to yachts in the 2027 season is not yet known. Before your cruise, check the navigation notices from Wody Polskie (the Polish water authority) in Białystok and the schedule of the swing bridge in Giżycko.

The station in Piękna Góra on Kisajno no longer exists, although old lists online still mention it. From Kisajno, the nearest pump is therefore in Giżycko via the detour, or in Sztynort if you are heading north anyway.

Where there are no stations on the water

You cannot refuel from the jetty in Wilkasy, Bogaczewo, Rydzewo, Piękna Góra, Ruciane-Nida, Pisz, Wierzba, Nowe Guty, Okartowo or anywhere on Bełdany. The port on Bełdany sends you to Mikołajki for fuel, approx. 10 km away. In port descriptions on sailing websites you will sometimes come across mentions of a pump in Rydzewo or in Kamień on Bełdany. Neither of these stations is in Orlen's 2026 network, so do not plan to refuel there.

There are no stations on Śniardwy at all. When sailing from Mikołajki to Śniardwy, to Bełdany or towards Ruciane-Nida and Pisz, set off with a full tank. In strong winds Śniardwy builds a short, steep chop. Then you wait in port for a calmer morning, and a full tank gives you freedom over when and where you go.

Roadside stations near the ports, when a jerrycan is enough

On a sailing yacht with a small outboard engine, a jerrycan from the nearest roadside station is often enough. These are the stations closest to the ports, with hours according to a 2026 sailing guide.

  • In Węgorzewo, Orlen at ul. Bema 13, open 24 hours, approx. 880 m from Ekomarina.
  • In Giżycko, Orlen at al. 1 Maja 20 and Lotos at ul. Białostocka 43, both open 24 hours. The nearest Orlen is approx. 1.15 km from Ekomarina.
  • In Wilkasy, the station at ul. Olsztyńska 1, open from 6 am to 9 pm, approx. 870 m from the AZS port.
  • In Ryn, Orlen at ul. Kopernika 35, from 6 am to 10 pm.
  • In Mikołajki, Okoń at ul. Mrągowska 19, from 6 am to 10 pm, and Orlen in Prawdowo, open 24 hours.
  • In Ruciane-Nida, Orlen at ul. Dworcowa 3, open 24 hours, approx. 1 km from Przystań Wodnik.
  • In Pisz, Bentra at ul. Grunwaldzka 1, from 5 am to 10 pm, approx. 500 m from Ekomarina on the Roś.

You carry fuel in a jerrycan by car or on foot. A private individual may carry up to 60 l per container and up to 240 l in total by car, in sealed jerrycans designed for fuel. How to safely pour it into the tank at the quay is described in our guide fuel on a yacht: refuelling and settlement.

How to refuel at a station on the water

Approach the station jetty slowly, with fenders over the side and mooring lines ready at the bow and stern. Before refuelling, switch off the engine and the gas cooker, and nobody on board smokes. If you do not know whether the engine runs on petrol or diesel, call the yacht owner before the nozzle goes into the filler. A mistake ends with the engine going in for servicing.

On Saturdays, when crews change over in the ports, there can be queues at the pumps. If you are returning the yacht with a full tank, plan to refuel on Friday, before 8 pm at the latest, because according to ORLEN that is when the stations usually closed in the 2026 season. Wipe up any spilt fuel with a cloth and tell the staff, because nothing from the engine may end up in the lake. If the yacht owner has set out how fuel is settled, you will find it with the yacht, for example in the motor yacht listings for Masuria.
