Where and when concerts take place in Masuria in summer
The most reliable summer concerts in Masuria are the sea shanty festivals in Giżycko, Mikołajki and Węgorzewo, the July town festivals Dni Mikołajek and Dni Rynu, concerts at the port in Sztynort throughout the season, and Piknik Country in Mrągowo, on 23 and 24 July in 2027. You can sail to most of the stages; Mrągowo you can only reach by road.
Below we have gathered the events that come back every year, with their usual dates and whether you can walk to them straight off the boat. We give dates for 2027 only where the organiser has already announced them. Harbour masters hear the question about concerts every season, and answers to other common questions, from showers to shops, are collected in our questions to ask the harbour master.

Dates according to the websites of organisers and towns for the 2025 and 2026 editions. Days of the week and times change every year.
The season starts on the May Day long weekend, when Giżycko opens it with concerts by Ekomarina and Pasaż Portowy. From 30 April to 2 May 2027 Kisajno will also host the Twister Cup regatta over the May Day weekend, with a campfire concert for the competing crews.
Sea shanties: the music closest to the quay
From a yacht, sea shanties are the easiest to catch, because they are played by the water. Festiwal Piosenki Żeglarskiej i Morskiej (the sailing and sea song festival) in Giżycko dates back to 1993, and in recent years it has been held on the town beach on Niegocin. In 2026 it ran on 3 and 4 July, with concerts from 8:00 pm to 00:10. Festiwal Szantowy in Mikołajki falls at the turn of July and August, on the promenade, with free admission. In 2026 the programme included a Sunday family concert at 2:30 pm, a good time for crews with children.
In the north, shanties are played in Węgorzewo under the name Węgoszanty, at Port Keja. The date changes: in 2025 it was the end of July, in 2026 14 August, with free admission. In Wilkasy in 2026 the amphitheatre on Niegocin was filled by the “Echa Jezior” shanty festival, also without tickets. Sztynort has concerts in the port almost every day throughout the season, on the stage by the shop or in the Baba Pruska restaurant, and according to sailing websites the tavern at the Stranda marina on Kisajno plays shanties every day in July and August.
There are also unbilled shanties that crews sing on the jetties in the evening. Such an evening in a Masurian port has its own customs, with quiet time from around 10 pm, 11 pm at the latest.
July means town festivals, rap and country
The first weekend of July usually belongs to Dni Mikołajek (Mikołajki Days). The programme takes place on Plac Wolności and the promenade, there is a regatta for the Puchar Króla Sielaw (the Vendace King's Cup) and a parade of boats, and in 2025 admission to all events was free. In mid-July, from Thursday to Sunday, Dni Rynu (Ryn Days) takes place, also without tickets in 2026. Sailors should watch out for one thing here. In 2026 the Friday concerts were held in the amphitheatre on Jezioro Ryńskie, where the port is, but the Saturday headliner performed in the amphitheatre on Lake Ołów. So on Saturday you have to get from the port to Ołów, and it is worth checking the route in advance.
At the same time, usually from Thursday to Saturday, Giżycko plays rap. Mazury Hip Hop Festiwal has been held since the early 2000s in the amphitheatre of Twierdza Boyen (Boyen Fortress) and is ticketed; you can walk to the fortress from the waterfront. In the second half of July Sztynort spends a week on the STN:ORT festival, with concerts and workshops, including for children, in the palace, park and port. Dni Węgorzewa in Park Helwinga has no fixed date: in 2025 it fell in June, in 2026 at the beginning of July. Dni Pisza with Jarmark św. Jana is at the end of June, and Dni Rucianego-Nidy at the end of July. You can sail to these towns, but the stage is sometimes some way from the port.
In the second half of July there is also Piknik Country & Folk in Mrągowo. The organiser has announced the 46th edition for 23 and 24 July 2027, a Friday and Saturday, and tickets are already on sale. The main concerts are held in the ticketed amphitheatre on Lake Czos; in 2026 there were also free Piknik w Mieście (Picnic in Town) stages around the town. You cannot get there by yacht, because Czos lies off the route, and from Mikołajki it is 20 to 25 km by road. In August the same amphitheatre hosts Festiwal Kultury Kresowej, held since 1995. How to combine Mrągowo with a cruise is described in our guide to Mrągowo and Lake Czos.
August on Niegocin and in Węgorzewo
In August Giżycko organises its AirShow, known until 2025 as Festiwal Wiatru (the Wind Festival). Alongside the air displays over Niegocin there is a concert on the town beach, with free admission in 2026, and the displays can also be watched from the water. The organiser has not yet announced the date for 2027; in 2024 it was 23 August, in 2026 22 August.
At the beginning of August, Muzeum Kultury Ludowej (the Museum of Folk Culture) in Węgorzewo, in its open-air ethnographic park on the Węgorapa, organises Międzynarodowy Jarmark Folkloru. Bands from the region and groups from Poland and abroad play, and there is a craft fair and workshops for children. In 2026 it was the 49th edition, on 1 and 2 August. Hip Hop Pisz also takes place in August and held its tenth edition in 2026, and on Saturdays in July and August the Evangelical-Augsburg church in Giżycko hosts Festiwal Muzyki Organowej i Kameralnej (a festival of organ and chamber music).
How to sail to a concert and where to check the programme
On the day of a big event the port near the stage fills up faster than usual. Arrive in the early afternoon, moor up and only then head off to the festival. The route is only suitable for navigation in daylight, so after an evening concert you stay the night in port. With children, choose daytime events, because the evening headliners usually play until midnight; we have set out a family week on the water in our plan for a cruise with children. Tips for finding a free berth at the height of the season are collected in our guide on where to moor in peak season.
If you are lying on Kisajno and the concert is on Niegocin, remember the Łuczański Canal. In 2026 it was closed to yachts and there was a detour via Tajty; whether the canal will reopen in 2027 can be checked in the navigation notices from Wody Polskie (the Polish water authority).
