The Antila 33.3: the workhorse of our fleet
Who is the Antila 33.3 for? Families and bigger crews on a comfortable week-long cruise, and also skippers without much experience, because it's a spacious, predictable boat: 10 berths, 3 lockable cabins plus the saloon, and around 2 m of headroom below deck. It's the newest generation of the most popular family of charter yachts in Masuria. We run seven of these boats, built between 2021 and 2025, all based in Giżycko.
I'm writing this as a boat owner, not a shipyard brochure. These yachts work our charter season from start to finish. I know who sails them, what people ask before a cruise, and what their faces look like when they hand the boat back on Saturday. Short version: this is a yacht almost nobody complains about.
Who this boat is for
The Antila 33.3 sits in the "big Masurian yacht" bracket. Three lockable cabins make all the difference when two or three families sail together. Each couple gets its own door, the kids get their own den, and the saloon stays shared. On paper there are 10 berths and that many people can sleep on board. In practice it's most comfortable with a slightly smaller crew — everyone has somewhere to stash their bags and nobody is stepping on anyone's head. Ten will fit, but then the bags need to be soft and small, and the crew needs to get along.
The second group is freshly licensed skippers. Counterintuitively, a big yacht isn't harder to handle than a small one. The 33.3 is steady, doesn't hop around on the waves and doesn't heel over at the slightest gust. In port it reacts predictably and gives you time to think, which is priceless during your first solo manoeuvres. How the 33.3 differs from the older Antila 33
The classic Antila 33 is a legend of Masurian chartering and still a very good boat. The 33.3 is its newer generation from the same Polish shipyard: fresher styling, a more modern interior and, above all, twin steering wheels instead of one. Then there's the age of the boats. Ours were built between 2021 and 2025, including units from the most recent seasons, so you get a yacht without the wear of many years of charter service. Why two wheels on a lake? It's not a gimmick. When manoeuvring, you stand on the side that gives you the better view of the jetty and the mooring posts. On a tack you sit to windward with a clear view of the sails and the water ahead of the bow, without leaning out from behind the cabin. The helm gets less tired and sees more. On a boat this size, that's a real difference in handling comfort.
How she handles
Steadily and without drama. Around 50 m² of sail is enough to move along briskly in medium wind, and when it blows harder you reef and keep going without any theatrics. The cockpit is wide, the whole crew sits comfortably and nobody crowds the helm.
The variable draft from 0.45 to 1.8 m, thanks to the lifting keel, is pure gold in Masuria. With the keel up you can slip into shallow bays and up to reedy shores where deeper yachts have no business. On open water — Niegocin, Dargin or Śniardwy — you drop to full draft and the boat holds her course confidently.
The inboard engine of around 21 hp pushes this hull calmly, even into the wind. That matters on the canals between Giżycko and Mikołajki, where narrow stretches are common. It also comes in handy in Giżycko itself: the swing bridge on the Łuczański Canal opens at fixed times and sometimes you need to arrive right on schedule, not fight the wind on an engine that can barely wheeze along.
Life below deck
Around 2 m of headroom in the cabin means most adults walk upright. After two days of rain — and those happen even in July — that's the difference between a holiday and doing time. Three lockable cabins plus the saloon give a total of 10 berths. The saloon table seats the whole crew at dinner, and there's enough storage for everyone's luggage to disappear off the floor.
Two practical notes, because you ask about this every week. Tap water on a charter yacht isn't drinkable, so bring a supply of bottled water. And remember that Masuria is a protected area: rubbish and toilet contents go ashore in the ports, never into the lake.

Charter in practice: licence, deposit, pick-up
You need a Polish sailing licence (żeglarz jachtowy) to skipper the Antila 33.3. Without a licence you can't charter this boat on your own, but you can hire a paid skipper — then the licence is his problem and you get to relax.

Pick-up is in Giżycko. Our Antila 33.3s are based in several ports, including our Port Royal base on Lake Kisajno and the Ekomarina. Giżycko sits right in the middle of the Great Masurian Lakes trail, so on day one you can head north towards Mamry and Węgorzewo, or south towards Mikołajki and Śniardwy. And one last thing I repeat every year: book early. This is the most popular yacht bracket in Masuria. We have seven of them, and July and August still go first. Book in winter and you pick your dates and your exact boat. Call in June and you take what's left.
