Long weekends 2027 in Masuria: May Day, Corpus Christi and when to charter a yacht

Which long weekends are there in 2027 and which ones work for a yacht?

In 2027 two long weekends suit a short cruise in Masuria: the May long weekend (1–3 May, Saturday to Monday) and Corpus Christi (27–30 May, Thursday to Sunday, for one day of leave). 15 August falls on a Sunday, so there will be no long weekend in summer. In May most offers let you take a yacht for a few days, not just a full week.

Autumn is when people sit down with a calendar and split next year's leave. For sailors, 2027 is a so-so year. The May holiday eats up a Saturday, Corpus Christi lands at the end of May and the August holiday is on a Sunday. Below we work it out for a charter: how many days off, how much leave and whether you can take a yacht for a short stay in each window. Our reference point is offers on NaCzarter from the 2026 season, since 2027 price lists are only starting to appear.

Easter on 28 March is out. In 2026 Wody Polskie opened the Great Masurian Lakes waterways only on 24 April (Navigation Notice no. 2/2026). The November long weekends look good on the calendar, but on the lakes the season is over by then. That leaves two dates in May and one problem in August.

When is the May long weekend 2027 and can you charter a yacht for 3 days?

1 May is a Saturday, 2 May a Sunday and 3 May a Monday. Three days off without taking leave. For a public holiday falling on a Saturday, employers must give full-time staff working Monday to Friday another day off (this follows from Article 130 § 2 of the Polish Labour Code). The employer picks the date, though, not you. So don't count on Friday 30 April being free. If your boss names it, you get four days. If not, add a day of leave.

Charter length is not a problem for the May weekend. In the 2026 season no offer with a price list on NaCzarter required a Saturday to Saturday week for the May holiday nights. Short stays were available on 88 sailboats from 7 owners and 68 houseboats from 13. The catch is the price. The same yacht cost more over the May weekend than on an ordinary weekend two weeks later, by a median of about 18% for sailboats, about 22% for motorboats and about 24% for houseboats.

The second thing is the weather. Early May can be cold, especially at night, and the water is not inviting for a swim. When choosing a yacht, check the description for heating. Among offers on NaCzarter, 87 of 96 houseboats and 105 of 137 sailboats have heating (as of early October 2026). There is a choice, but not every boat has it.

On the water it looks roughly like this. In the morning mist hangs over the harbour and you sit in the cockpit in a fleece. Once the mist lifts, the first yachts raise their sails, often for the first time that season, so there is more chatter while rigging than in July. At night the heating runs. In the evening there is a campfire or a barbecue at a designated spot on shore; whether you can grill on board is something to check in the charter company's rules. Harbours are busy, since lots of crews pick the May weekend at the same time.

How many days of leave for Corpus Christi 2027?

One, which makes it the best date of 2027 if you count days of leave. Corpus Christi falls on Thursday 27 May. Take Friday 28 May off and you have four days on the water, Thursday to Sunday. Nights and water are usually warmer than over the May long weekend.

In 2026 Corpus Christi fell on 4 June. The holiday premium for the nights of 4–6 June was a median of somewhere in the low-to-mid teens (percent) for houseboats and about 20–25% for motorboats and sailboats (compared with the same yacht a week later). In 2027 the holiday comes eight days earlier, still in May. At the end of May 2026, about 9 in 10 sailboats with a price list offered a short stay (78 of 88), as did about 3 in 4 houseboats (53 of 69). The rest only took full weeks.

When do the 2027 summer holidays start and what does that change for a charter?

The 2026/2027 school year ends on Friday 25 June 2027 (Ministry of Education calendar). The first Saturday summer charter week therefore starts on 26 June. From then on short dates become scarce. At the end of June 2026, 41 of 88 sailboats and 45 of 69 houseboats offered only Saturday to Saturday weeks. By mid-July 2026 this applied to 69 of 88 sailboats, nearly 8 in 10, and 50 of 69 houseboats. August was similar.

So in summer plan a week from Saturday to Saturday, and save short trips for May, June before the school holidays and September.

Will 15 August 2027 be a long weekend?

No. In 2027 the Assumption falls on a Sunday, and a holiday on a Sunday gives no extra day off. If you want to sail in mid-August, book a full week, for example from Saturday 14 to Saturday 21 August. In 2026, for the night of 15 August nearly 8 in 10 sailboats could only be booked for a full week, and just 18 of 69 houseboats offered a short stay.

If your leave is flexible, June or September will work better. In mid-September 2026, 80 of 88 sailboats and 65 of 69 houseboats offered short stays.

What route can you sail in 3–4 days?

Rule one: in three nights you don't do a loop around all of Masuria. Picking up the yacht, the check with the harbour master and shopping take half of the first day, and on the last morning you hand the boat back. For the May weekend a short plan based in Giżycko is enough, as described in our weekend route in Masuria.

For the four days of Corpus Christi the northern loop works well: Giżycko, Kisajno, Dargin, Sztynort and Mamry. It is the 5-day route minus one easy leg. In wind, Mamry and Śniardwy build a short, steep chop, so cross them in the morning or not at all. A long weekend is too short for Śniardwy and Nidzkie together. Pick one direction and don't chase the miles.

How much more does a long weekend cost and when should you book?

2027 price lists are only starting to appear, so all figures in this article come from NaCzarter offers in the 2026 season. Treat them as a reference point, not a price list.

A short charter usually costs more per night than a week. When a few nights pay off and when a full week is better, we cover in charter by the night or by the week.
