Where to leave your car during a charter
Usually in the operator's car park at the pick-up port, for a separate fee paid on site. For most boats listed on NaCzarter, parking is a paid option; the median is 25 PLN per day (from 15 to 50 PLN). For a few boats the fee is mandatory. If the price list has no parking item, ask the operator.
How to check the operator's car park in the listing
On the yacht page, fees paid on site are listed separately from the charter price. Look among them for the "parking" item, which tells you whether it is an option or a mandatory fee and how much a day costs. A week usually means seven daily fees, paid at pick-up together with the deposit. Some ports take cash only.
The price list will not tell you whether the car park is guarded. Ports write "supervised" or "closed grounds", which means someone is there and the gate closes, but it does not mean the port is liable for your car. In peak season spaces can be limited, and some price lists speak cautiously of "parking subject to availability", so call a week before pick-up and give your registration number.
No "parking" item in the price list does not mean free parking, so when taking over the yacht, add the car to your list of things to settle next to the handover report and the deposit.
The paid parking zone in Giżycko and Ekomarina
Since 1 May 2026, Giżycko has had a Downtown Paid Parking Zone, set up by a City Council resolution of 19 February 2026. It operates daily from 8 am to 8 pm, from 1 May to 30 September, and covers, among others, Żeglarska and Kolejowa streets and the road from Ekomarina to the footbridge. A day ticket costs 40 PLN and expires at 8 pm the same day. The charge for not paying is 100 PLN.
There is no weekly ticket, so on the street you buy a day ticket every day for the whole charter week, seven times 40 PLN, 280 PLN in total. A monthly bearer pass costs 120 PLN, but the rules do not guarantee a space and do not say whether the Zone Office will sell one to a visitor. Paid municipal off-street car parks, including those on Dąbrowskiego and Jeziorna streets (mayor's ordinance of 6 March 2026), have the same rates and accept the zone ticket.
Ekomarina has its own car park with 168 spaces. The latest available price list is the Giżycko mayor's ordinance of 8 April 2024, under which a day costs 40 PLN, a week 220 PLN, and camper vans and trailers are not allowed in. Since May 2026, however, the area around Ekomarina has been part of the zone with a 40 PLN day ticket, so before the season ask the harbour office which price list applies in the fenced car park. If you collect the yacht at another port in Giżycko, ask about the operator's car park.
Mikołajki, Węgorzewo, Ruciane-Nida, Wilkasy
Since 1 January 2026, Mikołajki has charged for municipal car parks (mayor's ordinance of 29 December 2025). In the car parks on Papieża Jana Pawła II and Okrężna streets you pay 5.30 PLN for each hour or part of it, or 50 PLN for an all-day ticket valid until 10 pm, and on Plac Wolności 6.60 PLN per hour and 60 PLN per day. Charges apply daily from 8 am to 10 pm, and the car parks are unattended. The street zone is also charged in season; check the current rates on the town's website. The ports in Mikołajki have their own price lists.
In Węgorzewo, check on the town's website whether a paid zone operates. Ekomarina Węgorzewo has no "parking" item in its 2026 price list, an operator's base on Lake Mamry charges 20 PLN per day (2026 price list), and the scout harbour is listed at 25 PLN in the port directory.
In Ruciane-Nida, marinas and resorts by the port charge 20 to 30 PLN per day (operators' 2026 price lists), paid at yacht pick-up. Club harbours in Wilkasy on Lake Niegocin charge the same (2024/2025 price list), and PTTK describes its car park as supervised.
When to take the train or bus instead of the car
Without a car, Giżycko is the easiest to reach, because the IC Rybak and TLK Biebrza trains are back in the 2025/2026 timetable, the IC Słowacki runs from Wrocław and the IC Nida daily from Kraków, Warsaw and Białystok among others. Add Polregio trains from Olsztyn and Ełk and FlixBus with a stop on Kolejowa street. Ruciane-Nida is served by Polregio from Olsztyn via Szczytno. Mikołajki has had no working station since 2009, which leaves buses and minibuses.
The train makes sense for two or three people, or when the crew comes from different cities, because you save a week of parking and the driver's fatigue. For four people from one city, compare the cost of the car plus seven days of parking with four return tickets. On a one-way charter the train wins even more clearly, because someone would have to go back for a car left at the starting port.
Safety and practical tips for the crew's driver
The Giżycko and Mikołajki rules release the municipality from liability for your car, even though you pay for parking.
- Nothing in sight. Documents, cards, chargers and bags go on the yacht.
- Photograph the parked car and the ticket behind the windscreen, or take a screenshot from the app. It will help if anyone disputes a charge.
- A day ticket expires in the evening, at 8 pm in Giżycko and 10 pm in Mikołajki. Someone in the crew renews it daily in the app, or in Giżycko you take a bearer pass (in Mikołajki passes are for residents and local businesses only).
- A spare key with a second person. Keys have a way of going into the water together with your shorts.
- You come back on the day of the yacht return, usually between 8 and 10 in the morning, so count parking up to that morning.

Frequently asked questions
Is port parking included in the charter price? As a rule, no. It is a separate fee paid on site, usually 20 to 30 PLN per day.
Can I leave my car for a week at Ekomarina in Giżycko? Under the 2024 ordinance, yes, for 220 PLN, but since May 2026 the area around the marina has been in the paid zone, so confirm the price list with the harbour office.
Can I leave a camper van or trailer at the port? Not everywhere. Under the 2024 price list, camper vans and trailers are not allowed into the Ekomarina car park in Giżycko, and at other ports they may be a separate item in the price list or banned, so ask the operator before booking.
Do I pay for parking at weekends in Giżycko and Mikołajki? Yes. In Giżycko the zone operates daily from 8 am to 8 pm between 1 May and 30 September, and the municipal car parks in Mikołajki are charged daily from 8 am to 10 pm.

Where can I park for free in Giżycko for a few days? Do not count on free long-term parking in the centre. Out of season the zone does not operate, and in season the operator's car park is the surest option.
