If this is your first houseboat, the 2020 Stillo 30 makes for an easy start: handling is intuitive, and a bow thruster, depth sounder and 42 hp engine back up your manoeuvres. No licence is needed to hire it, and you can bring a skipper along for the start (paid option). Eight people sleep aboard in three enclosed cabins (berths 6+2). The hull is 9 m long, 3.3 m wide and draws only 0.5–0.6 m — shoals stop being a worry. Equipment includes an electric hob, kettle, built-in fridge, dishes, heating, TV and a sea toilet; a bimini covers the cockpit and its table. Base: Port Royal in Giżycko, right in the middle of the Great Masurian Lakes trail. Pets welcome.
