Ryn Days 2026: a town festival you can reach straight off the deck
Ryn Days 2026 runs from 16 to 19 July, with the main stage set up in the amphitheatre right on the shore of Lake Ryńskie. It's an open-air town festival in Ryn: concerts, a fair, sport and family attractions. For a sailor there's one twist most guests don't know about. Ryn sits on the main route, so you can simply sail to this festival. You moor a few dozen metres from the stage, listen to the concert over the water and head back to sleep on board. You can't buy that with a car.
What's on and when
Four days, Thursday to Sunday. The heart of the event is the lakeside amphitheatre, and around it a fair with craft and food stalls plus a kids' zone with bouncy castles. Concerts on the big stage in the evenings. Below is what the organiser has announced. I'm not giving times for individual items, because they still like to change. Check them with the organiser before you set off.
| Day | What's happening (as announced) |
|---|---|
| Thursday 16.07 | Festival opening, the fair and stalls get going, family attractions and bouncy castles by the lake. |
| Friday 17.07 | Concert evening in the amphitheatre: Kliper and Mietek Folk among others, closing with a Laser Show over the water. |
| Saturday 18.07 | The star of the whole festival: a Golec uOrkiestra concert. Fair and family attractions through the day. |
| Sunday 19.07 | A sporty finish: the Ryn Run, a table tennis tournament, a Pogoń Ryn match, and a military equipment display by the 15th Giżycko Mechanised Brigade. |
Golec uOrkiestra on Saturday will pull crowds, so that's the hottest evening. If that's the one you're aiming for, all the more reason to arrive early.
Why it's perfect from the deck
Ryn isn't a dead-end corner. Lake Ryńskie connects via Lake Tałty to the main Giżycko-Mikołajki route, that is, to the heart of the Great Masurian Lakes. In other words: the same water you sail all week on your charter leads you straight to the amphitheatre.
It looks like this. You sail up to Ryn, moor in the harbour or the eco-marina, step onto the jetty, and moments later you're at a concert over the water. Afterwards you're not hunting for a place to stay, not sitting in traffic, not figuring out the way back. You go back to the yacht and sleep on the water, a few steps from the stage. Coffee in the cockpit in the morning, and in the evening you carry on along the route. People on land that evening are fighting for a parking spot and a room in a guesthouse. You've got both with you.
You'll find more about the water itself and the approach to the town in our guide to Lake Tałty and Lake Ryńskie. And if you mostly know Ryn for the castle towering over the town, take a look at the piece on where the name Ryn came from and the Teutonic castle.
How to sail there from Giżycko
From our base at Port Royal in Giżycko, on Lake Kisajno, Ryn is a short stretch of easy sailing away. The route runs south along the main route: from the Giżycko area you enter the chain of lakes towards Mikołajki, pass Tałty and turn onto Lake Ryńskie. The whole thing is a typical day's sailing, no acrobatics involved. For many crews it's a natural stop on the way south.
We've written up this whole leg step by step in our guide to the Giżycko-Mikołajki-Ruciane route. As always in Masuria: on a charter yacht you keep the anchor on a line, and in the harbour you moor to piles or catch a mooring line with a boat hook from the stern and pull it forward to the bow. You don't drop your own anchor at a jetty, that's only for wild stops.
What to watch out for
One thing is key: in peak season, and completely so during the town festival, the harbour in Ryn fills up. There are plenty of people after a spot by the concert stage, and no more jetties are appearing. So don't plan to pull up to the amphitheatre an hour before Golec uOrkiestra. Come early, ideally in the early afternoon, grab a spot and only then head to the fair. If you don't fit into your first choice, there are places nearby to moor and walk over or come by dinghy.
Otherwise, normal charter discipline. The tap water on a yacht is usually not drinkable, so bring bottled water to drink. The water and gas tanks are limited, so you go easy. You don't dump sewage or rubbish into the lake. Masuria is a protected area, and Lake Ryńskie just like the rest of the route. For the concert and after dark, a warmer layer comes in handy; over the water an evening can turn chilly even in July.

Ryn Days is one of those festivals that look completely different from the water than from land. If you're putting together your calendar for this summer, take a look too at our roundup of Masurian festivals and events 2026 and plan your cruise so you can step up to the stage straight off the deck.
